We are thrilled to announce that Mobile Worker Plus, creators of Octopass, have been officially accredited by the Living Wage Foundation as a Living Wage Employer!
The wellbeing and satisfaction of our staff is a top priority for us. Every employee deserves to earn a wage that enables them to live without financial stress and this accreditation is a testament to our commitment to fair and ethical practices.
The real Living Wage
The Minimum Wage (£10.18) and the National Minimum Wage (£10.42 – for people over the age of 23) have failed to keep pace with the rising cost of living, particularly in expensive cities such as London. As a result, they often falls short of covering the basic needs of individuals and families.
In contrast, the real Living Wage is a voluntary commitment by employers to pay their employees a rate that reflects the true cost of living, allowing them to live comfortably.
The difference between the minimum wage and the real living wage is significant. The government’s 2024 National Living Wage are £1,092 per year lower (and £3,334.5 lower for London) than the real living wage rates. The real living wage rates are calculated by the Resolution Foundation based on the best evidence about living standards in the UK. The 2024 UK Living Wage is £12/h, and £13.15/h for London (including Greater London).

Achieving Living Wage Foundation accreditation is a proud moment for us. It reinforces our commitment to creating a positive workplace that values and supports our employees.
We believe that paying a living wage is not just a choice; it’s the right thing to do for our employees, our community, and the future of ethical business practices. We hope that our decision to become accredited by the Living Wage Foundation will inspire other companies to reevaluate their pay structures and consider the positive impact fair wages can have on both employees and businesses.
