Happy World Mental Health Day! Organised by the World Health Organization, this event aims to raise awareness about mental health issues, promote open discussions, and advocate for greater support and resources for mental health worldwide.
In today’s fast-paced and demanding world, the importance of caring about mental health cannot be overstated. While mental health struggles are incredibly common, mental health issues are still surrounded by a lot of shame and stigma, especially in the workforce.
Destigmatising mental health at work can reduce the fear and shame associated with mental health challenges. Prioritising employee mental health can lead to better team communication, as well as increased team morale and increased job satisfaction.
Mental Health First Aid
This is why we are so excited to have a certified Mental Health First Aider in the company!
Our HR Manager, Liliana Silva, recently completed her training and passed her NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace.
The 3 units for the certification are ‘Exploring Mental Health’, “Understand How to Support Individuals With Mental Ill Health’, and ‘Understand a Mentally Healthy Environment’.
As part of her role, Lilly will now be able to implement principles of mental health first aid at work, offer confidential chats with staff members who need support, and will also help us make sure we maintain a healthy workplace environment where our staff can thrive.
World Mental Health Day underscores the importance of destigmatising mental health challenges, encouraging individuals to seek help when needed, and fostering a society that values mental well-being as much as physical health.
We strive to do that as much as possible at our workplace. It’s up to organisations to create an environment where people feel comfortable asking for support. So let’s prioritise mental health and contribute to creating healthier, happier, and more successful workplaces and communities.
